BUS528: Chapter 4 ideas (June 18 HW A)

Chapter 4 describes the documentation process before the project starts { from A to E }
Key words: charter, SOW, RACI matrix
A.         Proposal
Proposal consists of objective, budget, resource, schedule and deliverables. Most importantly the documentation should present quantitatively, such as including results from survey, and/or cost-benefit-analysis.
B.          Charter
Project Charter is 1-2 pages of definition of the project.  This has a statement of the scope.  It provides a preliminary delineation of roles and responsibilities, outlines the project objectives, identifies the main stakeholders, and defines the authority of the project manager. Project charter will never been changed while the project is being executed since it is for keeping the project not to be derailed from its original objective or scope.
C.          SOW = Statement of Work
SOW is a formal document that captures and defines the work activities, deliverables and timeline/due dates.  The list of { responsibility-deliverables-cost-deadlines } so that the description should not be the detailed level. The documentation can be both for the internal or external members of the organization.  i.e. contractors, venders
D.         Responsibility Matrix = RACI
RACI matrix describes the participation by various roles in completing tasks or deliverables for a project or business process. It is especially useful in clarifying roles and responsibilities in cross-functional/departmental projects and processes.
